Welcome to Lakewood Elementary - This is Lion Country!
  • Lakewood Elementary School was built in 1962 on four and one half acres of scenic property located on the southeast edge of the North Forest Independent School District.

  • The campus was recently modernized with the addition of the SPARK Park complete with amphitheater and a quarter mile jogging trail.

  • Within the original school structure there are thirty seven classrooms, in 1994-95, an eighteen classroom annex was added to provide housing for one thousand ten students. Then, in 2005, a twelve-classroom portable building was built to provide housing for increasing enrollment in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The staff consists of one principal, one assistant principal, two instructional specialists and fifty three teachers. There is one Fine Arts teacher, two PE teachers, one Music teacher, and three Special Education teachers Additional support staff includes two guidance counselors, one nurse, one librarian, thirteen paraprofessionals, six custodians, and cafeteria staff. Parent volunteers are an integral part of our educational program.

  • The business community, including the greater Houston area and the churches in our attendance area provide us with needed support.

  • Our focus is on children, directing their experiences and preparing each one to develop academic and behavioral skills, which will enable them to achieve excellence in performance.
  • Lakewood Elementary School is among only 100 SCHOOLS STATEWIDE picked to receive the Texas Governor’s Excellence Award for campuses with high percentages of economically disadvantaged students who have achieved outstanding performance or marked improvement in student achievement during the year 2004-2005.

  • Lakewood will receive between $90,000 and $135,000 per year over the next three years, dependent upon fund availability and campus enrollment.
