Mrs. Willie Vaughn
willie.vaughn@nfisd.org
Ms. Vaughn has been an employee of North Forest for 29 years. She is a 1965 grad of McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, La. She recieved her BA from Southern Univ in 1970 and a MBA from Texas Southern Univ in 1980. Mrs. Vaughn has also been married to her wonderful husband Percy Vaughn Jr. for 37 years and they have 2 sons and 1 daughter. Mrs. Vaughn also works in her church Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, here in Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Francis is a proud product of North Forest I.S.D. 92 grad of Forest Brook Senior High School. Mrs. Francis recieved her BA from Texas Southern Univ. in 97 and her M.Ed in Education Administration in 2000 and a M.Ed in Guidance and Counseling in 02. Mrs. Francis has been employed with North Forest for 9 years. Mrs. Francis is married and recently gave birth to a baby boy.
Lakewood Elementary School Guidance and Counseling Program
Objective
  • To provide guidance content in a systematic way to all students through group and individual counseling.

  • Address immediate concerns, assist students in monitoring and understanding their own development.
  • Purpose
  • Student planning and goal setting. Skill development, prevention, intervention, and application of skills needed in everyday life.
  • Strategies and Goals
  • Self-confidence development, Motivation to achieve, Decision-making, Goal setting, Planning and problem-solving skills, Interpersonal effectiveness (including Social Skills), Cross-cultural effectiveness, Responsible behavior, Academic concerns, Drug abuse, and Family issues.
  • Counselor's Role
  • Guidance, Consultation, Program implementation and facilitation, Referral, and Professionalism.
  • Project Wisdom- Character Trait Education
  • Project Wisdom is our Character Trait Education Program at Lakewood Elementary School. Positive character traits such as these listed below are stressed:

    A) courage

    (B) trustworthiness, including honesty, reliability, punctuality, and loyalty

    (C) integrity

    (D) respect and courtesy

    (E) responsibility, including accountability, diligence, perseverance, and self-control

    (F) fairness, including justice and freedom from prejudice

    (G) caring, including kindness, empathy, compassion, consideration, patience, generosity, and charity

    (H) good citizenship, including patriotism, concern for the common good and the community, and respect for authority and the law
