Principal Williams Authors Book
Ms. Williams is now a noted author, she has released her first book entitled "From Welfare to Faring Well: Hang in There". In the book she tells of her struggles and how she succeeded aganist the odds. She encourages others to hang in there when you are faced with challenges, trails and storms in your life, they are only there to make us stronger.

Ms Williams is already working on a second book where she plans to continue to encourge others.
Recent Accomplishments
  • The campus was awarded the “State Recognized” status from Texas Education Agency for 2004-2005 for outstanding performance on the TAKS test.
  • Tammy Wesley was awarded District Elementary “Teacher of the Year” for 2004-2005.
  • Ms. Joyce Beal received the “Sunshine Award” from Channel 2 News.
  • Ms. Helen Shields was awarded "Teacher of the Year" for the NFISD Elementary Division for 2007-2008.
  • Ms. Helen Shields was awarded "Teacher of the Year" for the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) for the 2007-2008 school year.
The Cooperative for After-School Enrichment
The Cooperative for After-School Enrichment (CASE), 21st Century Learning Center at Tidwell participated in the “My Dream for My School” writing and drawing contest. Students participating in this contest won the following dreams for their school:
  • Petting Zoo
  • Basketball Equipment
  • Books for the library
  • Storytelling
  • Vegetable garden

    The students also participated in and won an after-school commercial saluting the soldiers of the war in Iraq. Students won a video camera for their efforts.
