William Barry Whiteside was born in Cameron, TX where he graduated from Yoe High School. He furthered his education at Prairie A & M University and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army where he spent 13 years with various assignments. These assignments consisted of platoon leader, executive officer, and company commander. Prior to leaving the army he continued his desire to educate by serving in the capacity of Assistant Professor of Military Science. His responsibilities were to prepare other candidate for commission into the Armed Services.
Mr. Whiteside is in his 15th year at the North Forest Independent School District. He has served as an elementary special education teacher, department head of special education at Keahey Elementary school, assistant principal of M.B. Smiley High School, and currently as an assistant principal of Shadydale Elementary School.
Mr. Whiteside is the father of four children and two grandchildren. He is married to the lovely Nykia Whiteside. His philosophy of education is “Most people say that the children are our future, but it is my belief that good teachers are the future. Because without them children will not be prepared to for what lies ahead.”
